Gail Wetzler received her BS in physical therapy from Long Beach State University. She gained her orthopedic, acute care and administrative background at Hoag Hospital Physical Therapy Department as an outpatient clinical supervisor.
As she continued postgraduate studies in orthopedic and soft tissue disorders, she initiated her private practice in 1979. Further studies in the osteopathic approach have led to skills in Muscle Energy, Craniosacral Therapy, Strain/Counterstrain, Visceral Manipulation and Mechanical Link.
Integrating traditional therapy, Functional Orthopedics, Craniosacral and alternative methods of healthcare is the focus of her clinic today.
Gail has teaching experience with Dr. Janet Travell - "Myofascial Pain and Dysfunction", Gregg Johnson P.T. The Institute of Physical Art and Dr. Terry Tanaka at USC School of Dentistry.
She has been a member of the APTA since 1973 and has been a guest lecturer 12 times for the APTA. The APTA seminars she has taught consist of Head, Neck and TMJ disorders, integrating visceral manipulation into traditional manual therapy and integrating physical therapy into animal health.
She is the developer of two major postgraduate courses: "A Multidisciplinary approach to Pelvic Pain" and "Integrative Therapies in Animal Health". She currently teaches ten different levels of post-graduate continuing education courses in manual medicine. She has been a certified Visceral Manipulation instructor since 1992 and certified Mechanical Link instructor since 1998 for The Upledger Institute. As of July 2000, Jean Pierre Barral honored Gail with the position of Director of the Department of Visceral Manipulation for The Barral Institute.
Gail has also served as Education Chairperson for the American Physical Therapy Association, and currently serves as Director of Physical Therapy at The Center for Alternative Medicine, University of California at Irvine. Gail earned her Equine Doctor of Osteopathy in 2009. She attended Rosalind Franklin University and received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2013.
